about

Daist: As in Dazed, only this seems to illustrate to me the idea of walking on the "blue" trail behind the field house and checking out fall tree colors, crisp air with the slight nip of frost and the slight stench of rot, yet beautiful anyway... it is 8 notes per beat, 8 beats per bar @ 88bpm, with changes occurring approx. every 8th bar, with the majority of the song being about 88 bars long, for a total of about 8 mins (plus fade-in/out times)... my friend Chris told me it sounded like a crystal cavern in the winter... basically it's the elevator music for superman's pointy igloo... This effect I created using the randomize/humanize presets to a reversed, flanged, and expanded-upon sample of a cow bell. Also of note, droning sound that occurs mostly at the end of this track is actually the cowbell re-sample being iterated over itself as it would've 'normally' sounded without the humanize/randomize presets used...
